friendly's was probably the one place that jackson loved more than his dorm or the dark rooms of the school. the place probably had the best ice cream, and really good food, and the people were usually extremely nice. jackson couldn't help but be seen there that wednesday night after one of thsoe bloody awful days where he couldn't stand being in the school anymore. and it wasn't that often either; the majority of the other times he'd come there, he'd just been craving some food and ice cream. but today wasn't one of those times.
that morning, not only had he gotten out of bed late, but he also managed to fall out of bed, crashing his cheek into the bedside table. now he had a slightly purple bruise on his cheekbone. Also, in his rush to get to class on time, he'd left his american literature essay on his desk, so he'd recieve a failing grade for that. next off on the list, he couldn't find his camera anywhere in his bag, which only meant it was in his dorm or somewhere else, which didn't help him, and rendered him completely useless during his photography class. he didn't have his wallet with him, so he didn't have his money or his license, and he couldn't get a chance to go back to his dorm to get his things. his psychology teacher was also pretty peeved, as usually, and he seemed to have picked on jackson more than usual today, though he always picked on him because of how he seemed 'emo', which mr. rutherson seemed to despise for reasons no one knew. usually jackson was the cheerful, sweet guy; but that day he'd probably been the worst person you wanted to talk to. he didn't ever have violent thoughts, but that day he had wanted to throw his textbook at mr. rutherson's head.
sitting at the booth, he stared down at the table, waiting for his order. he glanced down at his outfit; he had a disheveled look, but he couldn't care less. his skinny jeans didn't look that bad, his white The Maine shirt was slightly wrinkled from being a bit too baggy on him, and his black hoodie...was just black. nothing changed about that. even analyzing his clothes made him more bored. he was slightly lonely. taking out his phone, he decided to text ariella and tell her to come on over with him. soon, he sent her the message:
hey, ari, love. you busy? come down to friendly's, please? love ya.
just as he sent the text, the waiter came back with his order. but jackson ordered the same thing agian, only for ariella this time. the waiter, looking slightly agitated, just nodding before walking off. grabbing his spoon, he started to dig in, praying that ariella came. if not, he would probably break the promise he made to himself not to do anything stupid and would....he didn't know, go chase the ducks out of the lake or something stupid like that. there were usually a good amount there, and it would be a great way to let out his frustration. glancing at his watch, he saw that it was almost nine thirty at night. wow, where had the day gone? taking a bite of his ice cream, he rested his head on his hand, waiting.

The day had been a good one, or at least it would have been if she had seen her very best friend in the entire world, Jackson Mccauley for more than five minutes. Perhaps it was a bit pathetic for a person to rely on another for their happiness but it was something Ariella Pennant had done since the second grade and it was something she was completely fine with. Jackson and Ariella were practically like one person, a very bipolar person, but one person nevertheless. They were always together, feeding off on another’s emotions, finishing the other’s sentence, talking to each other in some sort of code. As different as they were, they were perfect for the other. She was his Ella and he was her Jack and if anyone tried to separate them, there would be hell to pay.
Ariella let out a scream of frustration as her hair failed to cooperate with her, how was she supposed to go to a party and expect to hook up with a gorgeous boy when her hair looked like a fucking monster? She decided it was best to give up on that for awhile though and was just about to head for her eyeliner when she felt her limegreen phone vibrate in her pocket and then start to play Jackson’s ringtone. A bright smile took over her once frustrated features as she read his text, hmm no partying tonight for her. Jack always won any fights he faced with any plans she might have previously made. Plus, it might be nice to not having to worry about having a hangover in the morning when you have classes in an hour.
not anymore…on my way bby ily too(:
For an instant she felt relieved that she didn’t have to worry about the mess on the top of her head anymore but was soon proven wrong as her hands quickly raced to her hair, trying everything possible to fix it. Why did she care so damn much now? She was just seeing Jackson. Of course, Ariella knew she had feelings for him but she’d never admit it aloud or even in the privacy of her own mind. She didn’t believe in love…at least not the romantic sort, and she’d never hurt him like that. She glared at herself in the mirror despite being satisfied with her fixed white blonde hair, why Jack?
After finishing her make up putting on a black poofy skirt with turquoise leggings, a tight fitted black tee shirt with the word RAWR written in bold turquoise, and some worn out black converse she began to head out of her dorm and on her way to meet her favorite boy at Friendly’s. After running a red light (or two), she finally arrived and quickly caught sight of Jackson feeling her heart jump into her throat as she did so. Damn, he looked sexy as hell today….she really needed to stop thinking things like that. Quickly noting that he wasn’t paying any attention, she began thinking diabolically. (Or maybe not so much.)
She skipped her way over to the boy unnoticed and covered his gorgeous blue eyes with her hands, ”Ello gorgeous. You’ve just been chosen as today’s winner; uncover your eyes to see your surprise.” Ariella teased in a overly seductive tone managing to slide herself onto the boy’s lap. She suppressed a giggle as an old women started glaringly at her. Stuff like this was always so much fun, especially the sitting on Jack’s lap part….

gah, where the fuck was she? he was getting uber lonely; some old lady was sitting across from him either staring at him with a glare or checking him out. either way he was very creeped out. that was something he didn't like to be at all. so he just focused on his ice cream until ariella came. what could be taking her? well, it was probably like, ten minutes since he texted her...checking his phone, yup. exactly ten minutes ago he had texted her begging for her to come to him. sighing, he rested his head in his hand while his other hand lazily scooped some ice cream onto his spoon. as the spoon went into his mouth and he felt the ice cream in his mouth, he felt a pair of hands covering his eyes.
hearing the seductive tone, he already realized that it was ariella. who else would do that to him? probably that old lady, but he didn't want to think about her. he felt her sitting down on his lap, and, placing his spoon where he thought was the bowl, he reached up and took her hands off his eyes. "ah, a nice surprise i got today." he smirked at her. she was looking really good today, though that wasn't saying much since he really did like her. not even like; he was almost certain he loved the girl to death. and not just jokingly; he really did love her. he just didn't know how to tell her, or if he should tell her. yeah...he wouldn't do that just yet.
taking his spoon, he scooped out some ice cream before holding it out to her. "want a bite?" he grinned at her as he saw the old lady watching them out of the corner of his eye. damn, that woman was a stalker. now he was getting slightly creeped out. pretty sure the woman couldn't hear if he whispered, he spoke. "you wanna help me stop that old lady from staring? it's scaring me." it really was. if she was checking him out, he would be even more worried and freaked out. that would be so wrong on so many levels.
conversation time. well, how could he really talk with her if she was sitting on his lap? he would have so many horrible thoughts, and a slightly happy thing in his pants...oh god, shut the fuck up jackson, you're losing it! he hated this. he had it bad for the girl. and she probably didn't even like him in that same way at all. jeez, he was a loser. he swore he had people coming up to him and asking him if ariella knew that he liked her. was it that obvious? if it was did she not notice that he did like her?! or was he just a lame loser that was pretty clueless on what the fuck went on around him? probabably the latter of the two. part of him wanted to just spit the damn truth out right then and there, but he didn't think Friendly's would be the best place. besides...it would be a good night. it could wait for another day...maybe.
"so, love, what the heck took you so long to get here?" he was curious; what was possibly important to keep him waiting for that long? sure, it wasn't that long in reality, but it felt like forever to him. though, when he thought about it, he wouldn't really have been surprised if it was another guy. pissed off, probably, but not surprised. he was surprised with how many guys the girl slept with. he hadn't even had his first experience yet! every single past girlfriend he'd had never lasted long enough so that they could actually sleep together. and a part of him, a very big part of him, wanted ariella to be his first. but he doubted in his mind she ever would.

A light pout came to Ariella's features before Jackson had even had a chance to uncover his bright blue eyes, she could tell he hadn't had the best of days. After all, they were the kind of best friends that completely fed off of the other emotions and could usually tell what was going on with the other without having to say a single word. Perhaps, he had just been lonely before she arrived or maybe, like her, was always in an off mood on days they hadn't seen each other much. She'd make a mental note of checking up on him once she'd grown tired of her obnoxious flirting. On further thought...when did she ever grow tired of flirting with Jack? Perhaps she'd better just ask him whenever the time seemed right, that was a much better plan.
What Ariella was sure was a seductive smile rushed to her face as he spoke of what a nice surprise he had gotten today, "Damn right, love. So what do you plan on doing with this nice prize of yours?" She said, using the same tone of voice she had been earlier except for this time she brought her mouth quite close to Jackson's ear, smirking as she teasingly pulled back. She always loved to play these sort of games with Jack. Sure, nothing ever came of them as he wasn't the hook up sort of person even with Ella, she couldn't help but hope that someday he'd change his mind on that though. After all, if she could have sex with any boy on this planet, Jack would be without a doubt her first choice and with her that was saying something.
Ariella allowed herself to laugh a bit as he asked if she wanted a bite of his ice cream, not that what he had asked had been funny she had just been suppressing a giggle from her obnoxious teasing since she had came in there. "Yes sir." She told him, as she took a bite from his spoon. She loved the ice cream from Friendly's it seriously had to be the very best in the universe. As he mentioned the old lady she smirked and looked over her shoulder, she was definitely still staring. Stupid creepy old lady staring at her Jack, "Hells yes, anything in mind love?" She asked him, tilting her head a bit. She hoped he had some sort of idea as she didn't have any clue on what to do at the moment.
People would often come up to her and ask her if she and Jackson "were a thing", she'd always laugh and tell them to piss off but secretly be happy that they had thought perhaps they were. Most of her friends were certain that Jack liked her while she was certain that he thought of her probably like a sister and even if he didn't, what could she do about it? She'd never fall in love with him and she'd never allow herself to hurt him, or at least that's what she'd tell herself every single time the thought crossed her mind. She would never allow herself to believe what was really happening, and what was happening was that Ariella Pennant was without a doubt head over heels in love with Jackson Mccauley and there wasn't a damn thing she could do about it.
At his next question, Ariella smirked at bit. Should she tell him the truth? Probably not, it was far too dull. She would probably tell him that she was off with some guy he always made the cutest faces whenever she was. But was it worth a fight? Probably, he'd be able to tell she was lying at any rate. "Well, I was with this boy I tried to tell him that I had to leave because something or someone rather," She smiled at him, "came up but he wouldn't stop whining. It took awhile to get him to leave. Sorry love, were you bored without me?" Ella finished, trying not to sound as if she were obviously lying which for once with Jackson came easily to her. It was more than likely because she had been truly put into that situation numerous times so it was almost like she wasn't lying at all.

hearing her quesiton in that same flirtatious tone, it took a lot of his strength to not kiss her right then. how many times had her flirtatious voices and actions caused him to have dreams at night about her and him together? way too many to be common. he couldn't hlep it at all; he was in love with the girl, and she was completely oblivious to his growing feelings for her. he swallowed when he heard her voice in his ear, and he was about to say something when she pulled away. quickly, he arranged his face so that he wouldn't look like he was one of those head-over-heels stalker boys, and smirked at her. "hmm...well, there's probably a lot i could do with my prize. but i think i'll be nice and let the prize speak for itself." hell, whatever the girl had in mind for him, he doubted he would mind it...
watching her take a bite of ice cream from his spoon, he grinned at her before watching her glance over her shoulder at that creepy woman that was sitll staring their way. was he only attractive to those creepy women? hearing her question, he got a thoughtful look on his face before smirking. leaning his head closer to her face, he whispered to her so that the woman wouldn't hear. "follow my lead?" he kept his face closer to hers, his head tilted slightly, but he didn't do anything except stare at her, waiting to see what she would say, if she would be willing to do what he had in mind, which he doubted she would do.
he looked at her as she answered his question, and though the two were the best of friends, almost twins with that weird twin telepathy thing, he couldn't tell if she was lying or not. mostly because of the simple fact that her hooking up with a random guy wasn't that different from the normal life she led. sometimes he wanted to just shout at her how he felt about her so that she would realize that she wouldn't have to sleep with the randomest of guys and instead be his. but he couldn't do that and he knew it. that was the only hurtful part of their relationship. he wanted to just scream sometimes at how he couldn't say what he wanted.
having the feeling that his feelings were expressed on his face, he put a thoughtful look on his face. "hm...would i know the so called guy?" so i can beat the shit out of him... he honestly would. he was used to thinking threatening thoughts to the guys she hooked up with; most of the time he never blamed her; he blamed the guy. but what coudl anyone expect? he was overly protective of her. she was like his little sister. a little sister that he wanted to kiss so badly.....no! he wouldn't think that. he couldn't think that. what the else was wrong with him? lately he'd been thinking more and more of her. more than when they were little kids. he felt like he was some obsessive stalker kid that spied on the girl next door through the window to see her get changed. just at the thought he felt his face get red; it was probably beet red too.
coughing, hoping that she wouldn't notice the color on his face, he spoke, staring down at the table. "so love. are we going to stay here all night?" sadly they couldn't; the place would probably kick them out by ten, at the latest. so they needed something to do. they sadly couldn't hide out there all night eating their way through ice cream. taking a bite of his ice cream, he dug in again, only to hold out the spoon to her. they'd always been like that, sharing things like food. they even shared clothes! he could easily fit into her jeans. sure, he got a lot of comments on it...but was it his fault he was skinny?! hm...maybe it was.

So he had left it up to her to decide, now this was going to be quite a difficult decision to make. Should she go with something safe or scandalous? She didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable or make herself look like an idiot, but she couldn't help but want to take this opportunity for all it was worth. Her head tilted to the side as she attempted to finalize her choice, she smiled slightly as she came up with the perfect solution. Ariella wanted Jackson to sleep with her but not in her normal way, she meant it literally. "I want you to spend the night with me, in my dorm." She told him, for once quite innocently as she allowed her head to lay down on the boy's shoulder. She was proud of herself for being so good when the temptation was high but was honestly a bit frightened as well.
Eventually her answer brought her back to where her thoughts usually end up, her feelings for Jack. She couldn't remember there ever being another boy that she had just wanted to sleep with, there being no actual sex included. In fact, in most situations (or really in all of them) Ella kicked out the boy practically the moment the deed with done. Sex had always been all there was anything else had simply made her feel awkward or disturbed, but with her Jack? It sounded wonderful. That didn't mean anything, did it? It sure as hell better not mean anything...Jack was the last boy she was allowed to have actual feelings for, he was the last boy she was allowed to ever hurt. At least it was rather unlikely that his feelings were mutual...and to top it all off, she wasn't sure if that made things worse or better. Ugh, she wanted to tear her own hair out right now....
Ariella was thankfully pulled out of her thoughts when Jack had asked her to follow his lead, now this would be fun especially as she pretty much wanted to go and tell that lady off even if she had only coincidentally looked as if she were starring at Jack like that. Wait, was she seriously jealous of an old woman? She didn't allow herself to think on that any further as the results would be quite disturbing. She smirked a bit as she nodded at him, she was sure that she would be up for absolute whatever the boy had in mind.
She had to hold back a laugh as Jack referred to the nonexistent boy as a "so called guy", how adorable could one get? A bright smile came to her features as was usual whenever this boy was around, "So called? You are incomprehensibly adorable." Ariella teased, ruffling his hair afterwards as she always seemed to do when she thought a boy was being particularly adorable (this mostly happened to jackson) . She tried to decide whether or not she should give this boy a name, was she mad at any boys lately? She really couldn't think of any one. "And why exactly does Jack want to know this boy's name?" She asked, of course smirking and also slightly raising an eyebrow. Yes, this had been a way better way of going about answering his question. Brilliant, Ariella.
Why in the hell was his face suddenly beet red? She tilted her head once again and smiled at him, "What has you so embarrassed, love? She asked, not stopping to think that her acknowledging that she had noticed his sudden embarrassment would more than likely make it worse. Even if she had, it was doubtful that she wouldn't have said it anyway. Red suited him. At his next question, she wrinkled her nose slightly only just then realizing that Friendly's wouldn't be open for that much longer. "Hm, I suppose we can't." She stated, glancing at the store's hours which showed that the restaurant closed in precisely one hour. When offered the spoon once again she took it, taking another bite of the boy's ice cream with gratitude. "Well, we could just go to my dorm after this...no one will be there tonight." She shrugged, apparently they were both staying at some other girl's dorm tonight which was good considering the prize she had chosen earlier...

he looked at her, waiting for her to say something. but hearing her words, he nearly choked on his own air. spend the night in her dorm? they hadn't shared anything like that since they were little. sure, they'd often have sleepovers at each other's houses, but they were nine, for god's sake! but he let his heart beat come back down to human level; she had to mean just like a sleepover, right? it had to be. she wouldn't want to do that with him...would she? oh god...he was starting to panic. he didn't know what he should say, or do for that matter. he was afraid, dearly afraid. but he had to play it cool. taking a breath, he looked at her as she rested her head on his shoulder. “hm...okay. i'll spend the night with you.” he tried to make his voice sound as though his heart wasn't racing at four thousand miles an hour.
but as he stared down at her, he felt the thoughts enter his head. the thoughts that he desperately wanted to come true. the two of them together, tangled in the sheets until the morning, not even bothering to go class. the dream seemed almost wonderful; no, it was wonderful. he would kill to have it happen. but of course, he knew nothing would ever get him there. he would just be stuck being the best friend. he looked at her as she called him 'incomprehensibly adorable'. he grinned at her as she ruffled his hair. she was the only one that could get away with it without him getting agitated at her. she always had that special place in his heart. hearing her question, he tried to think of a way to answer that. did he really want her knowing that he was jealous of some random dude? probably not. “i just want to know the name in case he hurts you. i have a right for that, don't i?” he grinned at her.
hearing her question, he coughed slightly, but he didn't answer at first. what the hell was he going to say to that? he had no idea; he wasn't even supposed to be thinking that of her. so what the fuck was he going to say? he looked up at her, trying to think of a good answer. “nothing. uhm, just thinking of, what i got told today by this random chick.” that was believable. course, no random chick had said anything to him, but was he really ready to admit he'd been thinking about her changing/ no way in hell would he ever admit that, no even to himself. he looked at her, hearing her suggestion. he thought about it before nodding. “i like it. hey, we can do one of those sleepovers we had before. you know, movies, candy, popcorn, maybe even cake, all that.” he grinned at her. he was really hoping she'd say yes to that. he'd be happy with a sleepover. that would end the day pretty well.
not even waiting, he stood up, keeping a firm grip on her. he was used to lifting her; it was like lifting nothing, really. he was used to it by now. he would do it quite often, just for the hell of it. he looked at her, their faces inches apart. “shall we go?”
