“No! Rain, go away!”
Letting those words leave her mouth, Emma managed to duck underneath a bus stop as the rain pouring down became more intense. Shaking her now dripping black hair, she brushed her bangs out of her eyes as she looked up. It just had to rain when she left the apartment to get out and get some coffee. Completely not what she had been looking forward to. She had woken up to be in a pretty good mood; waking up at eight was pretty normal for Emma, and usually the earlier she woke up, the better the mood she was in.
She let her eyes scan the scenery around her, and she realized with a jump that she was right in front of the coffee shop, Starbucks. Letting a smile come onto her face, she lifted the hood of her jacket over her hair before she made a dash towards the front door. Pulling it open, she quickly stepped in before taking off the hood, running her hand through her hair, which was quickly drying. Her hair, which had been just slightly wavy when she left the apartment, was now curling up at a quick rate. Oh well; that was how she usually working.
Pulling the sleeves of her jacket towards her fingertips, she walked up to the counter, giving the woman behind the counter a shy smile. She ordered just a plain coffee with cream and sugar, and she let her fingers drum against the counter as the woman went off to get it. She looked around; for early morning, there were quite a lot of people around. It was slightly intimidating, really. She ran a hand through her now curly hair just as the woman came back with her order.
Giving her a smile, she gave her the right amount of money, took her change, and grabbed her coffee in a matter of seconds. Looking around, she found a good table near the windows just beyond the main entrance. Going over, she sat down in one of the chairs, crossing her short legs underneath the table. Taking one of the multiple hair ties she had around her wrist, she tied her hair in a side ponytail, letting her wavy hair hang over her shoulder. Her bangs, thank goodness, were still straight, so she was good with that. Picking up her coffee, she relaxed in her seat, leaning back against the back of it as she took a sip.
She pulled out her phone, shoving the headphones she had connected to it into her ears. She searched through until she got to the songs. She was pretty glad her phone could play music. Picking The Academy Is…’s about a girl, she put her phone on the table before sitting forward, her elbows resting on the table, her cheek resting on her one hand, the other holding her coffee, bringing it up to take small sips occasionally. She let her brown eyes scan out the window, watching passersby and animals as they went past. Today was bound to be a boring day…
