if today was your last day, tomorrow was too late, could you say goodbye to yesterday? Standing outside in the cool breeze, headphones pressed into his ears was Chester Bryce Anthony Moore. Chester shoved his hands into the pockets of his gray jacket that clung to his small body. A pair of black skinny jeans stuck to his long legs like glue. Chester had a light blue had on the top of his head, almost hiding his brown hair that was getting abnormally long. His blue eyes seemed to shine even brighter with the blue hat on. Chester picked up his feet that were inside his checkered Vans and kept moving. Boys Like Girls sang into his ears as he walked. Chester hummed along as he walked. He didnt know where he was going. He just knew that it was noon on a Saturday and he had nothing better to do. Chester sighed as he approached the large school building.
Chester pulled the doors open and walked inside. Instantly, he felt much warmer. He smiled his famous large smile as he felt the heat against his red cheeks. He walked passed the cafeteria, trying to avoid everyones faces. He didnt really want to talk to anyone. Chester kept his head down as he walked. When he got passed the cafeteria, he held his head up and looked around. He didnt have any classes considering it was Saturday and he was bored. Chester bit his lip as he saw a teacher. The teacher smiled at him but Chester ignored him. He kept on walking. He turned down the hallway and looked around. He didnt see anywhere he wanted to go. Just as he was going to turn around and leave, something caught his eye. He walked towards the door.
Looking both ways, he saw that no one was comnig. Chester opened the door slowly and slid inside. There was a long staircase and he walked down the stairs slowly. It was dimly lit from what he could see. When Chester got to the end of the stairs, he walked straight ahead. It was hard to tell really what was down in that basement because it was so dimly lit. Chester squinted his eyes as he ran into a box. He bent down and looked at the box. He wondered what was inside but he wasnt sure he should look. He felt like he was in his own adventure story. He shrugged before opening the box. He opened it slowly as he looked inside. He frowned as he realized that it was just a box of old text books. He sighed loudly and stood up completely. He looked around once again.
Chester looked around from where he was standing. He was about to leave, deciding that it was getting pretty boring and there was nothing to be found. And then, he noticed that there was a light coming from the stairs that he had just walked down. Chester knew that students werent allowed to be down here so he started to freak out. Chester turned around quickly, running straight into a pole. "Shit!" He fell backwards onto the ground. He rubbed his head as he layed on the ground. He thought that maybe if he stayed on the ground that the person coming down might not notice him which was really unlikely.

there are always days when you have absolutely no idea what to do with yourself, whether that day be a weekend or a regular old school day. this certain saturday was one of those days for isaac mello. usually, saturdays were filled with either sleeping all day or parties, and sometimes both. this particular saturday, though, zac was up bright and early(at least for him), thanks to his sister.
he'd been to a party with gavin the night before, and even though he didn't drink even one beer, he was still intending on sleeping until the afternoon, like he had an intense hangover. he was never one to drink or smoke at parties. after his sister was hit by a drunk driver, he'd vowed he'd never drink even a sip of alcohol. it wasn't so much the man who hit her that zac took responsible for cass's death, but the drink itself. if alcohol didn't do what it did to people, cassandra might still be alive. then again, if people didn't abuse it the way they did, she might still be alive as well.
still, his best friend was one of those alcohol abusers, at least at parties, and he wasn't a prude who preached the wrong-doings of alcohol. he just went to the party with his friend, waited until he was ready to go, and drove him back to the dorms. still, even that took a lot out of him; it was a late night, after all. every day following a party usually lead to sleeping until at least noon the next day, and going out to get afternoon coffee with gavin.
however, those normal plans were ruined for the time being when his sister, gabbi, had shown up at his dorm at around ten in the morning. it may as well have been five am for him, seeing as he'd been out until at least three the night before. still, gabbi was stubborn; apparently she'd forgotten to turn off her alarm clock that morning, and she'd gotten up early as well. he yawned and took it upon himself to entertain his sister for a bit. he always felt guilty about leaving her home with just their parents; he knew that they weren't exactly the most fun. still, it wasn't like they'd allow him to move back home; they were the reason he was living in a dorm instead of back home, anyway.
gabbi left after a few hours of sitting on his bed and chatting, and it was around one in the afternoon. he'd gotten up, stretched out, and gotten dressed before calling gavin to see if he was ready for their traditional coffee break. no surprise, the cell phone just kept ringing. he sighed and snapped his own cell phone shut, heading out the door to the main building of the school. there was bound to be something to do there while he waited for gavin to wake up, right?
wrong. for a full ten minutes he wandered around the school's main building, looking for someone he knew to strike up a conversation with or something interesting that he could join in on. still nothing. he turned and saw the door of the basement, and suddenly that little door looked extremely tempting. it was off limits to students, and he'd always wondered just what was in there. now, with no one coming and nothing better to do, why not check it out?
quickly he ran through the door and closest it most of the way, making sure that it was still open just a sliver so he could have some light as he walked down the stairs. he wasn't sure just where the light switch was; after all, he'd never been down here before. there was a dim light at the bottom of the stairs, and he walked toward it. he heard some kind of commotion, and, in fear it was a teacher, he turned to run back upstairs. he heard someone yell 'shit', though, and all fears that it was a teacher went away. he knew that voice, and even if he didn't, he was pretty sure a teacher wouldn't be saying that. he walked down the rest of the stairs to see chester moore, a friend of his sister's, laying flat on the ground. he walked up to him and extended a hand to help him up. "dude, are you okay?"

i will be all that you want and get myself together, cause you keep me from falling apart. Laying on the ground, staring at the ceiling, he was sure that he would be spotted. Even the dim lit couldnt hide his bright blue hat. Hearing someone ask him if he was okay, he felt a smile appear on his face. He immediately knew the voice. Isaac Mello, his friends brother stood before him, holding his hand out and wondering if he was okay. Chester didnt know much about Isaac but he definitely wanted to get to know him. Chester took a hold of Isaacs hand and got to his feet. Chester stared at Isaac for a few moments. Even in this horrible lighting, anyone could see how attractive Isaac is. He has this amazing lightning blonde hair and these great eyes. Chester felt butterflies run through his stomach as he realized that he still had Isaacs hand in his. Chester pulled his hand away quickly and let out a nervous laugh.
Chester brushed off his clothes. He didnt know what kind of things layed on the floor in this basement. Basements always kind of creeped him out with all the bugs and things that lived in the dark space. But he didnt mind being in the dark now that Isaac was here. He raised an eyebrow at Isaac. "So..." Chester had often wondered if Isaac liked boys or not. He had asked Gabbi once but she didnt think so. However, Chester got a certain gay vibe from him when he was around him. He could be wrong though. But, Chester wasnt sure if he could bring himself to ask him. If he asked him then either Isaac would know that Chester was gay and freak out or he might be offended. And the last thing Chester wanted to do was offend anyone.
"What... brings you here?" He let a small laugh escape his throat after he asked the question. The basement was a weird place to run into someone. He looked over at Isaac and smiled. Everytime he looked at Isaac, he couldnt help but smile. Chester bit his lip. Curiousity was getting the better of him and he really wanted to know if Isaac liked boys. Because if he didnt, Chester wasnt going to waste his time and possibly fall for the boy. He tilted his head as he thought of a slightly good way to ask him. "I mean.. its not like people really come down here often. I thought you'd be with your girlfriend...." Chester looked at him as he said this, both of his eyebrows raised. He would now have to over read everything that Isaac said in response to that. Chester was determined to figure this out without clearly asking him.

zac pulled the boy to his feet quickly. he'd seen chester around a few times, and he'd formally met him more than once. he knew that chester and gabbi were new friends, and her trusted his little sister's judgement. if she'd decided to be friends with the boy, he must be a good kid. and, as much as he felt awkward to admit it, the boy was extremely cute. isaac knew that he was gay; he'd known it for quite a while, even if he'd never told a soul. still, he wasn't sure if this boy was gay, as well, and he wasn't going to come right out and ask him. what if he wasn't and went around telling everyone? that wouldn't exactly be good for him.
he watched his sister's friend raise his eyebrows. even in the dim lighting, the movement was exaggerated enough that he could see it perfectly. he heard the boy's statement of sorts, the 'so...' that he spoke. zac didn't know how to respond to that, really; it wasn't a statement, but it wasn't exactly a question, either. he just kept quiet, waiting for something else to come out of the younger boy's mouth.
he heard a sort of nervous laugh come from the other boy, and he heard his question. he shrugged a bit. "i don't know. i mean, there was no one around, and i guess i've always wondered what was down here. i'm assuming that's the same reason that you're down here." he said. he heard chester continue his question, and he felt sort of rude that he'd already answered it. he almost laughed when he heard the rest of the statement, but he restrained himself. still, he couldn't help but let a small smirk play on his lips. "oh, i don't have one of those. so there's really no one to be with." he said.

everybody needs somebody, that they can trust in, and you're somebody that I found just in time. chester heard isaac answer his question about being in the basement and he laughed a littled. he nodded at isaac. "yeah.. i guess that is why im down here." he tilted his head to the other side. "nothing better to do on a saturday than explore your schools basement." chester felt very nervous around isaac. he didnt want to say or do the wrong thing and he felt like he was. hearing isaac reply to his girlfriend comment, he bit his lip, trying not to smile. referring to a girlfriend as 'one of those' was a good sign that he might actually be gay. that spring of hope just made chesters day and he couldnt help but smile. "oh... i dont have one of those either."
chester decided that he was just going to ask the boy. he wanted to know and for the most part, pretty much everyone knew that he was gay. so, he cleared his throat and prepared to ask him. "So... well... uhm..." He looked down at the ground, afraid of what the boy was actually going to say. "I was kind of just ya know... wondering something." He finally looked back up at the boy. He was having trouble spitting the words out. Finally, he got them out though they all kind of ran together. "areyoustraightorgay" he felt bad instantly so he tried to cover it up. "its not that you seem gay or anything. i was just curious cause you never really know when someone likes girls or boys and you dont have a girlfriend. i cant really imagine why a guy as hot as you wouldnt have a girlfriend unless they didnt like girls. sorry, now im rambling." chester stopped talking and took in a long breathe.
he felt a mixture of a million emotions at that point. one, he had just realized that he openly called the boy hot and he wondered if isaac had caught that. two, he was afraid that isaac might be offended. three, he was excited to find out if isaac really was gay or not. and four, he was mad that it had came out the way that it had. chester stared at isaac as he waited for some kind of answer. or at least for some way to tell how isaac was feeling. he just wanted some kind of reaction. chester tapped his feet as he waited.

he smiled warmly at the other boy. he didn't know him all too well, of course; they were a year apart and in different majors, and they never really got to see each other say, in the cafeteria or around the dorms. there was the ocassional passing in the hallway, but he'd rarely aknowledged the other boy, nor noticed if chester had aknowledged him. he did know, though, that his sister had spent a bit of time with him. in fact, he remembered her saying something about hanging out with him just this morning before she decided to jump on him and wake him up.
he heard the boy clear his throat, and something about the way he was acting made zac think that he was nervous. he felt bad; he didn't want to make the boy feel on edge or nervous about anything. hearing chester say something about wanting to ask him something, he looked at him expectantly, waiting for the question to be asked. it was a bit nerve-wracking, looking at the other boy clearing his throat and looking down. the question couldn't possibly be that bad, could it?
it could. as soon as isaac heard the words 'are you straight or gay', he immediately looked down at his feet. he had no idea what he could say. he knew the answer, of course; he'd known the answer for a while. still, why would he tell this kid, someone he barely even knew? he hadn't even told gabbi, for god's sake! the girl who he told absolutely everything to didn't know, so wouldn't it be like a slap in the face to her to tell someone else first? then again, he didn't have any reason to lie to chester, and a big part of him didn't want to. there had to have been some reason why he asked, and that slight possibility was slightly encouraging. still looking at his feet, he answered the boy. "i.... i don't really know how to answer that."

when sickness turns my ego on, i know you'll act as a clever medicine, if i turn into another. chester looked at isaac. isaac was looking down at his feet and chester was afraid that he shouldnt have asked. he felt as if he had just put his foot in his mouth. he bit his lip as he waited for the other boy to something, anything. chester didnt really care what he was going to say. however, chester found it slightly hot how isaac looked when he was nervous. he felt a pain in his lip and he stopped biting it. he raised an eyebrow when words finally came out of his mouth. he didnt know how to answer that. chester wondered exactly what he meant. chester shrugged and decided that maybe the boy just didnt want to tell him. however, he felt this weird chemistry when he was with this boy. chester looked into the boys eyes in the most sincere way.
"im sorry. i shouldnt have asked you like that. i mean... its not really my business. i was just curious, ya know?" chester raised an eyebrow and hoped that isaac wasnt upset with him. chester took his hat off of his head and shook his hair out so that some of it fell into his face. he ran a hand through his hair and shook it so that it looked better. "i hope that i didnt upset you." he gave him a slight smile. chester liked to take risks and asking him was a risk. however, he felt as if another big risk was about to take place. he opened his mouth but no sound came out. he thought for a moment and then spoke. "well, you probably know that i like.." he stopped talking. chester was never a good talker. he was better at showing.
so, thats what he did. he was going to show isaac how he felt. chester took a step forward so that he was closer to isaac. he smiled before leaning forward and kissing isaac on the cheek. he blushed as he pulled his face away from the other boys. their bodies were closer than before, only a few inches apart. chester looked down at the ground and let out a nervous laugh. he liked isaac. isaac was cute and he seemed like the kind of boy that chester would like. he looked up at him, hoping that the whole kiss on the cheek thing didnt creep him out. he smiled at isaac as he wondered what was going through his head.

he heard chester's apologies, and that only made him feel worse. he didn't want the boy to feel bad for him, or feel stupid for bringing up the subject. in a way, it was a good thing that he'd been asked straight out like that; he was sort of in the stage where he was denying it. that wasn't good, and he knew it. and either way, it wasn't going to change what he knew was true. still, he felt like he should tell at least his sister before he went around telling others. but it was a question, and he couldn't not answer it.
zac lifted his head and nodded when the boy explained himself. he didn't need to; curiosity was a natural thing. it made him wonder, though; if chester thought he was gay, what did other people think? did he spread a 'gay' vibe, or was it just chester's own opinion and not anyone else's? he didn't exaclty want absolutely everyone to know; at least, not yet.
chester apologized again, and zac shook his head. "no, it's okay." he said. and he nodded again when chester said that he knew of his preference. he wasn't slow enough to catch the 'guy as hot as you' thing. it was sort of nice; chester was pretty cute, as well. it was a good feeling to know that, even if you did like guys over girls, someone else liked you back. sort of. and that was confirmed when the other boy kissed him on the cheek. it caught him off guard; he couldn't think of anything to say, so he ddin't say anything.

make me feel good when im hurt so bad, barely getting mad,im so glad i found you, i love being around you. chester looked at isaac. he hadnt even reacted to the kiss on the cheek. chester bit his lip. he shrugged as he looked at isaac. "sorry about that." he let out a small sigh. "i guess... i hoped maybe you liked..." he looked at the ground and then back up at isaac nervously. "well... me, i guess." chester wasnt really ever the nervous type. not when it came to boys. but, he was dying of nerves whenever he got around isaac. chester remembered the time that he was with gabbi. they were walking on the sidewalk and isaac came up to gabbi. him and gabbi started talking and chester had been so lost in looking at isaac that he didnt pay any attention to where he was going and he walked right into a pole. that just wasnt like him.
snapping back into reality, chester looked back at the door. he was considering leaving. he was feeling really awkward. he had pretty much told isaac that he kinda liked him. chester looked down at the ground. he really didnt know what to do or say so he decided not to do or say anything. chester let out a yawn as he stared down at his feet. this awkward feeling wasnt going away and chester wasnt sure what to do. he slowly looked up at isaac out of the corner of his eyes.

he saw the other boy look extremely uncomfortable, and he immediately felt awful. it wasn't that he hadn't liked it; he did, really. he just didn't know how to express that. he felt like there was something wrong with it; letting someone else know before he let his sister know. he felt like it was a betrayal of some sort, at least to her. still, he couldn't very well let the other boy feel like it was his fault, that he didn't like him, because that wasn't true.
frustrated, he tried to explain himself to the other boy. "no" he said, flustered and uncomfortable. "that's not it at all. it's just..." he trailed off, trying to think of the words to explain himself. he couldn't exactly come right out and say it without feeling uncomfortable. "i think i'm gay but i'm not totally sure and i haven't told my sister so i can't say that i like you.' how completely pathetic did that sound, even if it was the truth? he sighed with more frustration, trying to think of just what he could say. nothing immediately came to mind.
defeated, he sighed yet again. "i don't know." he shrugged, and decided maybe the truth was the best way to go. "i mean, im so confused about this whole thing. it's not that i don't like you, because i do... i just haven't even told my sister that i think i'm gay. and i feel like telling someone else before i tell her is wrong, you know? because we tell each other everything..." he shrugged. "but i guess those efforts are all shot to hell now, anyway."
