You've become a piece of me Makes me sick to even think Of mornings waking up alone Searching for you in my sheets Don't fade, away
Most people who are born into money don’t bother to get jobs, especially people who had two famous parents, and were on their way to fame themselves. That’s what made people wonder why Addison Mae Thompson had even bothered to get a job, but there was a simple answer to that question; Addison wasn’t a normal person. Within the first week of arriving in New York, Addie had set out to find a job. She loved the thought of making her own money, and not having to rely on her parents all the time. Plus, it seemed like a crime to deny people a chance to see her.
It hadn’t taken Addison very long to work her way up to manager. Most of her co-workers thought it was because she had slept with the boss, but it was obvious that they didn’t know her very well. Addie was actually a very efficient person, plus, there was the fact that she would never cheat on her boyfriend. Addie and Kale had been together since she was thirteen. Five years is a long time to be with a person, so she wasn’t one to just take a chance of throwing it away. However, she wouldn’t argue that her looks had probably played a role in her promotion.
Saturday was one of the busiest days at the Skating Rink. Addie didn’t particularly like working Saturdays, but this particular Saturday was unnaturally slow. She sat back in the office with her feet propped up on the desk. If her boss Mike had walked in, she probably would have gotten in trouble, but Mike was in Pennsylvania visiting family for the weekend, so Addie was positive she wasn’t going to get in trouble. Pulling out her cell phone, she scrolled down to Kaleb’s name and paused, tempted to call him. She glanced at the clock, it was two-thirty. He would be here to pick her up when she got off at four. She decided to text him instead. Hello Mi Amour. Its insanely slow over here, amuse me =]
Smiling slightly, she put her phone back in her pocket, stood up, and made her way to the front. There was only three or four people out there, which was crazy considering there were normally hundreds of people up there. She sighed, “Travis…you can go home.” she said to the other person who was working with her. It was slow enough that she could handle things on her own, plus, it helped her cut her hours. She knew that Emma was coming in at 4, and that always got there a bit early. Maybe she could talk her into clocking in early. Not that it really mattered. Kale had her car for the day, and she couldn’t leave until he came to pick her up. With a defeated sigh Addie decided to put on her ice skates and skate on the ice rink while she waited for her shift to end. Three people were walking out the door as she put her skates on, so it just left her and a person on the roller rink. This day was getting more boring by the minute.
She skated her way out onto the ice, and did a simple spin. She loved the way she could glide on ice. It made her modeling professors a nervous wreck thinking of her on the ice, the ice that could easily mess up her beautiful face. Addison wasn’t that concerned though, she knew what she was doing. When she was on the ice, she simply forgot everything else, for a moment, she forgot she was even at work.

i've got your runaway smile in my piggybank baby gonna cash it right in for a new mercedes you were worth a hundred thousand miles
he honestly didn't like the days that addie worked. they rarely saw each other because of their own classes, so with her also working it drove him mad that he couldn't see her as often as he liked. but she was quite determined on a job, so he just stood by her with a smile. he'd put up with it. usually saturdays were quite lonely, and this wasn't any different at the moment. he was in his dorm, laying with his back on the bed in only a pair of basketball shorts. he had a tennis ball in his hands, and he was playing catch. it was a game between him and the ceiling. and so far, the ceiling was sadly winning.
again, he felt the ball go wide, but he managed to catch it, again. but soon, his phone went off, the loud ringtone scaring the shit out of him as he threw the tennis ball up. seeing addie's name across the screen, he grinned, until the tennis ball returned to him, hitting him square on the top of the head. frowning, he toosed it with maybe a little too much energy at the wall. grabbing his phone, he looked at his texts to see what addie sent him. seeing her message, he grinned. it was about two hours before he needed to go pick her up, so he was thankful that he got to spend time with her now.
jumping out of bed, he pulled off his basketball shorts and pulled on a pair of black jeans over his boxers. digging through one hamper, he found a blue shirt that he could wear. grabbing his sweatshirt, keys, wallet, and phone, he quickly rushed out of his door and down to the parking lot. he had her car for the day; he usually did the days she worked, because he didn't have a car of his own yet. he still couldn't even get a job ( at least until he was fully capable of taking his meds on a daily basis, which wasn't happening yet ). going down to the parking lot, he got into her car, starting the engine in almost one fluid movement. soon, he was backing out of the parking lot and driving down the street.
ten minutes later he found himself outside the rink. not many cars were parked in the parking lot; that was a good thing. it meant not a whole lot of people were there. but he was surprised only two people were there, one of them being addie. he spied her through the door before opening it. thankfully, the door didn't beep as it opened like some places; he wanted to surprise her. he placed the money on the counter ( yeah, he was going to support his girlfriend by actually paying instead of sneaking in when no one was looking ), and soon found a pair of ice skates. now, he wasn't exactly the most coordinated person out there, but it was worth it. taking off his shoes, he put the skates on, tying the laces before shakily standing up. taking slow steps towards the boundary separating the ice and the actually floor, he stepped off onto the ice carefully.
he could see her just twirling away on the ice, and he smiled. she honestly looked amazing, though she did every day. slowly skating until he gained speed, he skated up behind her before he wrapped his arms around her waist, skating carefully behind her so that she didn't fall because of him. "now how can i muse you today?" leaning down, he kissed her cheek before his head rested on her shoulder for the smallest second. pulling back, he took her hand, skating in front of her before turning around so that he was looking at her. a smile was big on his face ( hey, he was known for his smiles ).

Ice skating was probably Addie’s favorite hobby. She knew she wasn’t good enough to do it professionally, plus, she loved theater and modeling way more than she loved ice skating. It was harder to ice skate in jeans, it restricted Addie’s legs from correctly doing her spins, and it was the cause of her falling down not once, but twice. Her hair was another distraction. Normally she would have her long blonde hair tied up in a ponytail, but today she wanted to leave it down, but now she was paying the price. Every time she spun, she was slapped in the face with her own hair.
She wasn’t expecting Kale to actually show up. She figured he would just text her. Kaleb often said how he wasn’t very good at ice-skating, but she normally could talk him into skating with her. She thought he was perfectly good at ice-skating, because most dancers were. She didn't hear Kaleb skate up behind her, and she was a bit surprised when she felt his arms wrap around her waist. She couldn’t help but smile as he planted a kiss on her check. “Well…You’re off to a good start. I am a lot less bored now. she said as he took her hand.
Kaleb had to be one of the sweetest guys she had ever known. He always had a smile for her, was always doing sweet things, like kissing her on the cheek or forehead. Granted, since he was bi-polar, he had his moments when he scared the crap out of Addison as well, although she tried not to think about that. That was the main reason that Kale hadn’t gotten a job yet. Of course it would suck when he did. They didn't see each other as much as she would like as it was. In between their classes, Saturday nights, and the nights she didn't work…which wasn’t very often.
Addie wasn’t aware that her last customer was leaving until she heard the sound of the door shutting. She grinned at Kaleb “Well this doesn’t happen often. We have the entire place to ourselves…well, for the time being.” She said, grabbing his other hand and starting to skate backwards towards the center of the ice. This part of the ice was technically for ‘figure skaters only’, but since no one was there, no one could really say anything about it. Letting go of one of his hands, she started to skate again, pulling him along with her.

he smiled down at ehr as she said he was off to a good start. "well, i can't exactly fail at amusing you." smiling down at her, he leaned forward, still holding her hand, and kissing her gently. pulling back, he grinned at her before listening. he pretended to look overly shocked, his eyebrows raising. "totally alone for now? my goodness, so we could throw a party?" he was kidding, of course; he wouldn't throw a party if there was even the chance of just being along with her.
he let her take his other hand and lead him towards the center ice. he just followed along; he was horrible on skates, despite what addie said and other people said about dancers being graceful. other than dance, he was... probably the clumsiest person there was. it was true, sadly. but she did a lot of the work; he let her take his hand and pull him along, but of course he skated along ( slowly ) behind her. but soon he slowed down enough so that he could gently pull her back towards him ( if she wanted to ). "so, just us, alone here in an ice rink. " he let a slight smirk appear on his face before he skated closer to her. he rested his arms across her shoulders, looking down at her.
"we could shack up and procreate." yes, he was a loser quoting the thoughts of Jacob Black from Breaking Dawn, but he wanted to. "or...we could be even more wild and have a campfire." it was the only non sexual random thing he could think of. usually he wouldn't say things like this, but he was pretty damn happy. this was one of the few times they got to hang out. skating so that soon he was in front of her, pulling her hand along as he skated backward ( which, by the way, isn't a good thing ).
course, he should've known that wouldn't work. soon he felt his feet leave the ice, and soon he felt himself land on his ass on the ice. damn, that was cold. "CRAP!" he managed to yell, but he started laughing at the same time. sure, his butt now hurt, but it was pretty funny, if he did say so himself. he just hoped she hadn't fallen with him.

“True.” she said with a smile. She smiled slightly as he kissed her gently, and then grinned at his surprised expression. This was the first time they had been alone since they had hung out in his apartment a few days earlier. Every other time they had been in a public place, or he had hung out in her dorm with her roommates lurking near by. Grinning at him she said “We could throw a party, but I’d rather just have quiet time with you.”
She hadn’t gotten him far out on the ice before they slowed down and he pulled her back towards him. “Yep. Just the two of us…and the ice.” she said smirking when she saw the smirk on his face. She was about to say something when he pulled out his Jacob Black quote. She busted out into laughter. After about thirty seconds Addie finally regained her composure. “I was totally not expecting you to quote Breaking Dawn. I love you, you crack me up.” she said planting a quick kiss on his lips.
“I think the camp fire would melt the ice though…then I would have to refreeze the ice.” she said with a slightly amused smile. She was quite surprised when he started skating backwards and pulling her along. Normally he would slowly skate beside her, or even let her pull him along. She found it amusing that he would pull her for once.
Everything was going well, that is until she felt him go down, ultimately pulling her down with him. Her first thought was Dang…this is cold! and then she busted out in laughter. “Wow…I wasn’t expecting that.” She went to stand up, but was still laughing so hard that she lost her balance and fell on her butt again. This just sent her into more hysterics. “Well…I think I may be done with ice-skating for the time being.” she said as her laughter died down some and she was able to stand. Offering her hand to Kale, she grinned again. She hadn’t laughed like that in a while, and it actually felt good. “What do you say to me making some hot chocolate?

hearing her, he grinned. "course. i'd rather just be alone that have a wild party with tons of people, and a possible mosh pit right out here on the ice." he grinned at her; though the thought was very, very tempting, he was serious. he'd much rather be alone on the ice with her. he looked down at her as she said just the two fo them, but he couldn't help but smile bigger when she started laughing at his Jacob Black quote. hearing her, he grinned. "well, that's why i'm here." he leaned down, kissing her, maybe a bit longer than she kissed him, before pulling back. "i love you too."
he rolled his eyes at her. "hello? a camp fire with your oh-so-amazing boyfriend is worth a little melting ice." he grinned at her. he stared at her, until he felt the ice beneath him. funny thing was she came down with him. laughing as she did, he looked at her as she tried to stand. he couldn't help it; this was just amusing. hearing her say she might be done ice skating for now, he laughed. "i don't think i can get up after this." he probably couldn't; but he'd try. but seeing her hold her hand out for him, he grasped her hand before pulling himself up carefully. he felt himself lose balance, but he caught himself.
"oh, you'll make hot chocolate, but no campfire and s'mores?" he frowned dramatically, but he let it go. he grinned at her. "sounds great. let's get off the ice, please? my butt can only take so much ice assault." he smirked at her before taking her hand, starting to (slowly) skate off. he looked at her before speaking. "so, what are we doing when you get off shift, love? we haven't made plans yet." he was totally looking forward to some plans. though staying on the ice after her shift ended wouldn't be bad.
he was grateful that he looked foward, or else he would have suffered the consequences of hitting the barrier seperating the ice from the main floor. stopping in the doorway, he slowly stepped up before dropping down onto one of the benches. reaching down, he began untying the laces of his skates. as soon as one skate was off, he sighed with relief. "i think that's enough skating for me in a while."

“Good because I’d much rather be alone with you, rather than having to risk sharing you with anyone else.” thinking for a moment, a funny thought occurred to her, “Plus…with your balance on the skates with just the two of us, you’d never survive with a ton of people out here. You’d be falling all over the place!” she said with a grin. “Well, I’m glad you are.” she said as he was leaning down to kiss her. Hearing him say he loved her too, she planted a quick kiss on his cheek. “well, that’s good. Cause I believe you will be stuck with me for quite a long time.”
She laughed with Kaleb rolled his eyes and claimed that it would worth it. “Hmmm… Yes. I believe it would. Of course I would lose my job and have to find another one…..” The whole falling thing was something that didn’t happen to Addie a lot, so she found it quite amusing that it had happened. “Oh come on you big baby. If I can get up, you can get up too. I promise.” she said as he tried to stand up.
Laughing, she thought for a moment, “Um…We don’t have wood…gram crackers, or the big marshmallows. But…if you want, I’ll put the small marshmallows and the Hershey’s bars in the microwave. It wont really be the same…but it’ll be close?” she said shrugging at the suggestion she had just made. Nodding when he said they needed to get off the ice, she laughed and said “Agreed.” Stepping off the ice, she thought for a moment. They hadn’t really talked about it. “Hmm. I dunno. Whatever you want to do babe is fine with me. As cheesy as this sounds, it really doesn’t matter as long as we are together. I feel like we haven’t really been together in a while.” she said with a slight frown.
Sitting down by Kale, she quickly took her white skates off and replaced them with her flats. Looking over at him, she bursted out into laughter. “Oh come on Kale, Its not as bad as you make it out to be. You know…I think with a little practice, you could actually be good at Ice skating. In a way…its a lot like ballet…only…well, on ice. “ she said with a reassuring nod. “Oh! Speaking of ballet…when’s the schools next showcase anyway?”

he nodded at her, but hearing her next sentence, he raised an eyebrow at her. "oh really?" grinning, he wrapped his arms around her waist, spinning around her, though at the same time moving forward ( backwards? ) slightly. that is, until he fell over. again. laughing, he rubbed his lower back, glancing up at her. "maybe you're right." he grinned at her as he stood back up. hearing her, he grinned. "i don't think i'll have any problems with you being stuck with me."
hearing her, he thought about it. "who needs an actual job? just walk the neighborhood dogs for a while and you'll make money easily. or babysitting! what happened to those traditional ways of making money, huh?" he questioned her, his eyebrow raised in mock question. hearing her, he stuck his tongue out at her. "easy for you to say, miss i spend my free time perfecting my spins." his hand still grasping hers, he pulled himself up slowly. "i prefer a floor without ice."
he let his mouth open in mock shock. "no grahm crackers?! no big marshmellows?! what kind of s'mores is that?!" he pretended to be outraged, but he laughed at her suggestion. "eh. it might. though i prefer this more." he kissed her gently before pulling back. he watched as she stepped off the ice as he untied his skates. hearing her, he smiled at her. "hm.... don't worry. the amazing kaleb shall save us from the evil boredom of doom." he rolled his eyes before shoving his feet in his shoes. he stood up to return the skates to where they belonged. coming back, he down down besides her as she changed into her shoes.
hearing her, he laughed. "haha. no. that's different. i'm used to shoes, and a floor, and...mirrors." lame, yeah, but that was the only other thing he could think of on a dance floor for a minute. "oh! and a disco ball. i don't see one here, do you?" he looked around as though he might have missed it. but he looked at her, grinning. "well, i don't feel like torturing my poor ass by landing on it every time i fail. i like being able to sit without having to wince." hearing her question, he thought about it. "uhm..... on some day?" he put on a serious face, trying to think. "oh! next saturday!" he'd almost forgotten; that would've really sucked. "and is my amazing good luck charm going to be there?"
standing up, he held his hand out for her. "do you really have to wait here for another..." he glanced at his watch. "hour before emma comes?" that made him sad. sure, they could wait for emma and have a good time, but he honestly just wanted to spend some time with addie alone. sure, emma was sweet, and the three of them had a lot of together, but it wasn't like spending alone time with addie.
