when you're clouding up my mind i can't win your losing fight, all the time ----------------------------------------------------------------
mornings usually michaela found herself in the library, but today was different. why? for the simple fact that the library was closed. she didn't know why; she'd woken up that morning just to see the doors closed with a signing saying 'we're closed, ):' that was just great. she needed to work on her report, but she needed the library to do it. oh well. she decided maybe just taking a break today would work. so after going back to her dorm, she'd changed into a pair of faded blue jeans and a white long sleeved v-neck. she threw on her fuzzy hooded vest on top of her white shirt, in case it was cold. dropping her school stuff and just grabbing her cell phone and her iPod, and her money if needed, she left her dorm again. this time headed towards the gardens.
they were her second favorite place next to the library. not only were the gardens beautiful looking pretty much all year round ( except when the flowers died ), but it was quite peaceful and relaxing too. no one really came in here. but she enjoyed being there. they also had swings! they were the one thing that really got michaela acting like a little girl again. she loved swings without a doubt, so when she first saw that the gardens were empty, she was happy. picking up her pace, she walked into the gardens and towards the swings.
her mind seemed to wander as she walked. she hadn't really had a chance to think through life in a while. it was the new year, and she hadn't made any new years resolutions. yes, she was a failure. but she knew what she wanted to do. well, not really. she was clueless. but she knew that she'd definitely have to make more friends this half of the year. she was growing sick of having to wake up early every morning just for the fact of school work ( yes, she was a nerd ). sure, she had her roommates, and a few people in some of her classes, but people that she could hang out with outside of classes. eh. whatever. she pushed those thoughts to the back of her mind.
brushing her brown hair out of her face, she found herself in front of the swings. she just stopped herself before she ran into the metal bar holding up the swings, and sat down on one of the swings. taking out her iPod, she turned it on, already onto the song 'i wanna love you' cover by the maine. she was one for classical rock, but that didn't mean she didn't listen to today's bands. and the maine was definitely one of her favorite 'today' bands. shoving her iPod into her pocket, she grasped the metal 'braids' on either side of the swing, holding on, using her legs to push herself on the swing a bit.
she glanced around; there really wasn't anybody out that day. she glanced down at her watch, seeing that was about ten thirty in the morning. that would be why. ten thirty on a saturday meant that everyone would be out at the mall or getting ready for a huge party later that night. that was usually the typical thing. one day she was going to have to just go into the city and explore. she was honestly sick of just being alone.

she says there’s ants in the carpet
dirty little monsters. It was fairly bright and early, and somehow Charlie had managed to be up. Usually at this time of morning, he was lazing away in his bed, getting some sleep and a good lie in. He was definitely not a morning person. The earliest he managed to get up normally was about eleven or twelve o’clock, especially at weekends. He struggled on days when he had courses; he usually had to get his room mate to force him up, by chucking water or something over him, and that was not much fun. Yeah, Charlie as pretty lazy, but that’s how he liked to be. Mornings were just not his thing. He happened to be up today though, he’d heard some idiot running down the corridor or something at this ridiculous time in the morning and had woken up, rather annoyingly. And so, he’d planned to get up and go for a walk or something, even though it was ridiculously cold, as he might as well do something now he was up!
Charlie jumped out of his bed, careful not to wake his snoring room mate. He knew his room mate fairly well, so he knew that he would not appreciate being woken up at this time on a weekend, like he had been. He trod carefully round the dorm, wading through the piles of clothes that seemed to be all over the floor. The eighteen year old rummaged around the piles, searching for some of his own clothes. He managed to find a pair of blue jeans along with a white t shirt and a grey hoody. He threw a few more clothes that he recognised as his own onto his bed, so that he could sort through them later. As soon as he and his room mate had been there about a week the room had got into this state, and the two hadn’t been able to find anything since. It was a good thing that they didn’t have room inspections or else they’d always been in major trouble. Charlie went over to the mirror and rubbed at his chin, and the lower parts of his cheeks; he had some stubble beginning to grow. It didn’t look tooo awful yet so he decided he’d leave it for now, and remove it before it became a fully fledged beard. He made a disgusted face at his limp and flat hair, and grabbed the pot of wax from the table in the corner of the room. He ran his hands through his hair, holding the front up in a quiff like style, with the sides and the back pointing in all sorts of directions. He preferred his hair to look big, and that was pretty much all the styling he didn’t to himself, he wasn’t overly concerned about the rest of his appearance.
The eighteen year old grabbed a long black coat from the back of the door, along with his wallet, phone and ipod from the side. He pushed the white headphones into his ears, and flicked to country house by blur, singing along to it, as he walked down the corridor, putting his phone, wallet and ipod in his pockets, and his coat on. He walked down and outside, pleased that he was nice and toasty in his coat. He hated the cold weather and longed for the time when it could be summer again and he could walk around just wearing t shirts and jeans. He shivered a lot, and so always had to wear a few layers in the cold weather. He knew it would warm up soonish, as it was the New Year, and spring would be along soon. It just seemed too long to wait.
He walked out into the gardens, and across, past all the flower beds, heading for the swings where he could sit and wait until one of his friends gave him a call. Charlie really liked to be social, and he guessed that he was fairly friendly as he was almost always happy, and so he spent a lot of time with his friends rather than on his own. Charlie saw the swings, but then saw a dark haired girl sitting on one of them, almost oblivious to her surroundings, not that there was anyone around, but she like him was listening to her ipod. As she was alone, Charlie walked over, always keen to make new acquaintances. He recognised her slightly, and knew that he’d probably seen her around somewhere. He sat down on the swing beside her, and took out one of his earphones. He swung for a short while, before speaking to her, hopefully loud enough for her to hear over her music, introducing himself. “Hey, I’m Charlie.” He smiled slightly, “I do music mostly here. How come you’re out here on your own anyway?”

when you're clouding up my mind i can't win your losing fight, all the time ----------------------------------------------------------------
her shoes were scuffed up. that was the first thing she noticed as her gaze went to the ground. ugh. she hated that about shoes. she could be so OCD with little things like that. also, her jeans were also looking way more worn out than normal; there was a small hole starting to form at her knees. oh great. she'd have to go shopping for new jeans, something she wasn't that fond of doing. she frowned slightly, again, as the song 'womanizer' by britney spears, and she pulled out her iPod, clicking next to move onto the next song. but in the break between songs, she heard someone's voice next to her. looking up quickly, she saw a guy sitting on the swing next to hers. pulling the headphones out of her ears, she looked at him as he introduced himself. charlie... she could tell that she'd seen him before. she just didn't know where.
"michaela...micky, actually." she hated her first name with a passion, and always demanded asked that people call her micky. that's all she ever really asked of people. she looked up at him again as she answered his question. "i was planning on working my paper, but the library's closed. so, i just thought coming out here would be better. and there's swings." she smiled at the small mention of swings; she loved them, she really did.
then the fact that he was a music major registered in her head. "music? that's pretty awesome; personally, i fail at music." she did. she was horrible at keeping a beat, honestly. though she loved listening to music, making it was a whole different story. "writing fo rme. and a bit of photography." eh, rambling. that's what she felt like she was doing. and that was something she tried to avoid; she seemed to always ramble with new people. or whenever she was nervous. and surprisingly, she was nervous here. it was quite odd; she usually wasn't one to get nervous. huh. "so...what are you doing out here, anyways?" she was sure she'd seen him around, and he was probably one of those guys that seemed to always be with people. he was a peoples' person, in her mind. so him being out here without anyone was surprising. to her, anyways.
glancing up at him through her hair, she shook it out of her face completely as she lifted her head more. he wasn't one of those guys that just avoided talking to people if they were alone. already that made him stand out to her. that, and he was slightly cute....she shook that second one out of her head. she couldn't like a guy she'd known for only a few minutes! who knew if the outside relaxed nature was just a cover? it happened all the time; then they'd turn out to be some jackass that'd rape her in the middle of the night and leave her and completely ignore her when it was found out she was pregnant...oh wow, she needed to stop reading those kinds of books now. she doubted the guy could be like that. she blinked, thinking. she wanted coffee now. she was pretty thirsty, and she wanted something warm to drink. looking at him, she spoke. "you want to come to starbucks with me? i could use some coffee." she gave him a friendly smile, waiting for an answer. but she was dearly hoping he would say sure, because she was already standing up, stretching and trying to get her legs to wake up. she turned to him expectantly, but hoping she didn't look pushy at the same time.

she says there’s ants in the carpet
dirty little monsters. Charlie swung slightly, after all he was sitting on a swing, and really what else was there to do. His black converses kicked in the dust, making it swirl up into the cool breeze. He looked around at the surroundings; most of the flowers and trees were dead bearing in mind that it was winter, and the flower beds lay there empty. Charlie couldn’t wait for the spring and the summer when it would be warmer and there would be flowers and plants everywhere, making these gardens the perfect place to be on a warm sunny day. His ipod moved onto some aerosmith, and he decided it to turn it off so that he wouldn’t be distracted by the music as he spoke to this girl; charlie always got distracted really easily, especially by music it just drew him in and wanted him to listen, and sing along. He couldn’t help it, it was just an obsession of his.
He smiled as she also introduced herself, and leant back slightly, his hands holding onto the metal chains of the swings. “Micky.” He repeated, nodding. “Ah well, the way I see it, it’s kinda early!” He grinned. “Far more exciting out here than in the library though.” Charlie hated the library, to him it represented everything he wasn’t good at; school work. Charlie wasn’t at all intelligent, and he had a slight dyslexia which made it far more difficult to read and to spell. Charlie was rarely in the library, instead choosing to spend his time outside, or down in the music department where he felt alive, and just completely at home. “I love the swings!” He exclaimed happily. At heart Charlie was like a little kid, he loved being all nostalgic and going back to his childhood. Children’s play parks were the most fun, and he loved to go there just to sit on the swings and think as he rocked back and forth.
Charlie smiled, watching the girl. She was cute in his opinion even though he’d only just met her properly, and she seemed really nice so far. He hoped that they’d be friends. He loved making new friends, the amount seemed to grow by day, he was such a likable guy, and this girl seemed similarly likable. “I could try and teach you if you want? Someday I’d like to be a music teacher, and it would be fun to try.” After being a professional musician Charlie really wanted to go into teaching, and give younger generations the chance to make amazing music and become as good as the people of his age. If he hadn’t had good teachers when he had been younger he wouldn’t have become so good himself. “Wow, I wish I could write. I never have good ideas, and my use of a camera is pretty terrible too!”
The girl seemed quite quiet, and so Charlie was pleased that he’d got her talking. He always wanted to help shy people overcome their shyness and gain confidence in themselves, and become more extrovert and outgoing. By nature Charlie was just very helpful and kind, and he couldn’t help himself from doing sweet things, which is probably what made him so friendly. He was slightly surprised at the invite to starbucks, but he wasn’t about to say no. He wanted to know more about this curious girl, she’d interested him already, and he was determined to find out about her, and who she was. He stood up himself, and said “Yeah, of course. Starbucks would be great.” He’d known her for just a few minutes but she’d already caught his attention, people didn’t tend to do that, and so he was very much curious.

when you're clouding up my mind i can't win your losing fight, all the time ----------------------------------------------------------------
she couldn't help but zone out slightly, looking him over. he had light brown hair that was kind of messed up looking, but it worked for him. he also had somewhat of a quirky smile on his face. slight stubble seemed to also be coming up on his chin. she couldn't tell how tall he was yet, since he was sitting down on one of the swings. he seemed to be one of those relaxed kind of guys, but not the ones that didn't care about how they dressed; like those guys that just wore what he found comfortable. his eyes were also a nice blue....oh what was she doing?! why was she looking him over?! it wasn't like she was interested in him...though she had to admit he was slightly cute...
hearing him repeat her name, she looked at him, but she didn't say anything. he certainly was interesting. she didn't know why; she never usually cared about certain people, but she kind of wanted to get to know him. she kicked her legs, the swing moving foreward. "yeah...that is definitely true." she loved the library, but she had to adm it it got way boring after a while. she swung in a slow rhythm for almost a minute before hearing his exclamation, and she couldn't help but laugh slightly. "swings are pretty awesome." she had to agree; if she didn't love swings, she wouldn't have been here at all.
her head lifted up again when she heard his offer, and she raised an eyebrow. was he serious? that would have been amazingly awesome. she couldn't imagine anyone else, after just metting them, offering to try and teach her about music. that was just not something you heard everyday. the boy was definitely interesting. he was already up on her good list. hearing his next statement, she laughed as it pulled her out of her thoughts. "if you want i could give you a few pointers on photography. it's really quite easy." well, maybe to her. people thought taking pictures were just about posing in front of a mirror with your friends, but when you really looked at it, photography could be beautiful. not difficult, but fun.
she looked down at him as he took his time to answer. but seeing him stand up, she was almost a hundred percent certain he was going to say yes. she felt herself smile the tiniest bit as he said yes to her offer, which, in her mind, was pretty weird. she wasn't usually this talkative and friendly with people she just met, but this charlie had an interesting quality about him. he wasn't like normal people. normal people didn't randomly go up to strangers and start talking to them. and he was friendly; that was a rarer thing, still. friendly guys were very hard to come by. the only friendly guys were the ones that wanted to get laid that night, and that's it. though he didn't seem like that type at all.
shaking her head, she looked up at him. damn, he was a tall guy. she felt so abnormally short compared to him; she only came up to about an inch above his elbow. why were guys so tall?! she cleared her throat to excuse herself from staring at him. "so, we walk?" she wasn't against walking; she loved walking. it helped the environment more. grabbing her bag off the ground, she slung it over her shoulder before looking up at him and starting to walk on. "so, charlie. what else do you like besides music and swings?" she smiled slightly before looking up at him.

she says there’s ants in the carpet
dirty little monsters. He grinned as she said she would teach him photography, and he nodded. He’d love to learn photography, he’d always seen people taking fantastic shots, and there were always pictures about the college that photography majors had done, and he was always amazed to see how fantastic they were. Charlie simply didn’t understand how they made them turn out so amazing. “I’d really like that. We can both help each other out then.” He thought it would be really good to teach this girl some music, because as well as helping him with his teaching skills, it would mean that he would get to know her more, and she already fascinated him so much, he wanted to spend more time with her. It was odd for him to feel so drawn to her, especially after just meeting her. Charlie didn’t quite understand it, but he knew that she was really very beautiful and intriguing.
He watched as she readied herself to go, and pushed his hands into his pockets, among his wallet, phone and ipod. It was only when they were stood next to each other that he realized just how much taller than her he was. He knew he was pretty tall, but she seemed tiny compared to him, and it was kinda cute in a way. He felt an overwhelming desire to protect her; it was really part of his nature, and a slightly odd part of him. But she was so cute and so small, and he just wanted to hug her to him and keep her safe. He barely knew her, and yet he felt this, he almost physically had to shake his head to stop himself from thinking like this. He was going to let himself get to know her before deciding on anything like that.
Charlie nodded, looking down at her face, and walked alongside her, walking slower than usual, as his long leg length meant that his strides were probably two of hers, and he wanted her to walk at a pace that was comfortable for her. “Hmm.” He thought. “I like my family, I have quite a big family, but I’m really pretty close to them all and I tend to miss them quite a lot when I’m up here. You see their all back in california in our house.” Charlie was definitely close with his family, he shared a room with his brother, and the girls were close in age to him and Johnny. “I’ve got three sisters, and one brother. Two of my sisters are twins, and we’re all pretty close in age, so we all get on really well. Apart from my family, I like dancing, and the summer and sunshine, and going wild.” Charlie beamed. He just loved to go mad, without caring what anyone else thought, it was a great stress reliever, and was part of the reason why he was so into music.
“Now it’s your turn, apart from writing, photography and swings, what do you like Micky?” He watched the girl, glancing at her eyes, and watching her lips absentmindedly.

when you're clouding up my mind i can't win your losing fight, all the time ----------------------------------------------------------------
she looked up at him as he agreed to her teaching him photography. that would be interesting; she was one that took her time learning something, but she'd probably have to make herself focus, and not just for the fact that she was a bit spacy. she was extremely intriuged by this guy, and she wanted to know more about him. so she'd probably have to keep her mind from wandering away and on him teaching. wow, that was something different. "yeah...that'd be awesome." she smiled up at him. either she was in an extremely good mood today, or her curiosity of this guy was getting to her again.
glancing up occasionally as they walked, she looked at him as he talked. hearing him talk about his family like that really did in a way show her that he cared about his family. it was quite a rare thing, at least, in her mind. most college students never really talked about their families; the reason many of them stayed in dorms and apartments was because they didn't want contact with their family. but hearing him talk about his family was....nice. she could feel herself smiling, and she didn't know why. "that's sweet. i'm an only child. my parents didn't get along too well, but i got to go with my dad; he was a photographer. that's kind of why i want to go into photography. but i just love writing a lot more. it's.....to me, writing's like a way to get things out you can't say. i think that's why i want to be able to be a writer when i graduate." she shrugged before she realized she was rambling. she looked up at him and now realized his next question.
she thought about it before shrugging. "i like a lot of things. starbucks for one; i'm dying for something to drink." she laughed slightly before turning serious. "but, really. i love doing anything really. as long as it's you know, not illegal or anything." she shrugged, sticking her tongue out of the side of her mouth. yeah, that was probably something lame to say, but that was just her. she was just weird like that. she looked up at him; time for more questions, because she still didn't know much about him. "so where are you from?" she wondered with curiosity; a lot of people were from different places, and she just was curious. she always wanted to travel, and she loved hearing hims about different places. she just had too much curiosity when it came to places.
walking seemed to take long; that, or they needed something to talk about. micky wasn't too good at walking and thinking at the same time, mostly because it was natural for her to fall flat on her face when she walked. so she wasn't surprised when she tripped over something ( she wasn't even sure what she tripped over, probably a crack in the sidewalk), and felt herself fall forwards, her hands reaching out to grab the nearest thing possible, which, she forgot, was charlie. "damn!" she mananged to let the word out before she felt her knees hit the sidewalk. she did a sort of awkard little fall before ending up on her side on the sidewalk. how the heck was she that clumsy while walking!? it rarely happened with her....
then she remembered that she'd grabbed onto charlie. she just dearly hoped that she hadn't bought him down with her. "oh my gosh, i'm so sorry.." she mumbled, not even sure if she'd pulled him down or not to apologize.
word count! 602 tag! charlie! outfit! clickyy music! hush by automatic loveletter misc! eh. suckyy. Dx and sorry i kinda did that little thing at the end. xD i was lacking something and needed to add some depth to it. haha. i hope it's okay! if not, tell me and i'll change it. =]
