honestly, madalyn was nervous beyond belief. this was her actual date, an actual second date with zander allen. it was just some thing that she didn't think would ever happy. ever since their conversation over the campus chat box, they'd hung out a bit until one night he'd called her, and they agreed to go to the movies. sure, she'd been cool over the phone, but the minute they'd hung up, she probably had squealed so loudly that it might have woken the people up in the next dorm. aubree, of course, had asked what was wrong, and she couldn't breathe as she quickly explained. she was excited; she was more than excited...but she didn't know if there was a word for that.
the days leading up to wednesday she'd tried to figure out what to wear, how to act, everything. she didn't want to screw up so that she lost whatever chance she had with zander. he could have asked anyone, anyone, and he asked her. that made her very happy indeed. she wasn't about to lose her chance. she knew she'd liked zander, a lot, since the day they met. maybe more than liked, but who knew? she certainly didn't; she wasn't ever good with these things. that was aubree's department. but she was getting good advice from every girl she knew, and strongly ignoring her brother, who didn't want her going out with zander, for the mere fact he didn't think she should be dating anyone, especially a musician. he had the same philosophy as garret...it was awkward.
wednesday, when it came, seemed to go by so slowly. she was almost jumping in her seat in every class, and in her theater classes, she absolutely could not focus on the scene she was doing with his girl, erika. course, the girl got annoyed at her, so madalyn realized that she should have paid attention; the girl looked as though she'd smack her... at the end of the day she almost ran back to her dorm to get ready for tonight. she'd even texted zander, making sure they were on for six. she felt awkward for asking, but she wanted to. she didn't want to like...she wasn't sure. not be ready when he was there to get her? she wasn't sure; she had just wanted to, but now thinking back on it, she felt stupid.
as she sat at her desk, she wondered if she'd been too excited. making something out of nothing. maybe it wasn't a date in his mind? if not, then she was one stupid girl. she honestly had felt like that throughout the night as she got ready. it'd taken her aw hile to figure out what to wear, but eventually she decided to go casual, but still look nice ( if that was possible, really ). so she'd dug through her closet ( and aubree's ) until she found what she wanted to wear. her hair was easy to do, so all she now needed to do....was wait.
wating was torture for madalyn. she was usually a patient person, but when it was something this exciting, she just couldn't help but be anxious. though she was also quite nervous as she sat there; she wished aubree was there with her. she honestly didn't think she'd be able to face him until she had some kind of reassurance that she wouldn't totally screw the chance up. course, aubree was out with dance people, which wasn't a surprise in any way. she just wished she was there for at least ten more minutes. she glanced at her watch, about to see how much longer she had to suffer, when she heard knocking at the door.
feeling her breath get caught in her chest for a minute, she looked at herself in the mirror. jeez, why was she so nervous? it was just zander....one of the only guys she really liked this much...no! she wouldn't think of him as that. she'd think of him as her best friend going to the movies with her. simple enough. she just hoped she remembered that. taking a deep breath, she walked over to her door, opening it slowly, a shy smile hitching itself up onto her face before it grew into her naturally big smile. “hey zander.”

Alexander Brody Allen had a hard time believing that he had actually asked our Madalyn Parker, not just once, but twice. Sure, as anyone would tell you, Zander was a very friendly guy. He was nice to just about anyone, and he didn’t have a mean bone in his body (Unless he was having an episode, but most people didn’t know about it, and that’s the way he liked it.) Zander loved to goof off, pull pranks, and generally have a good time. But when it came to girls, Zander was pretty shy. Sure, he loved to flirt, but he really got shy when it came to actually asking the girl out. But here he was, getting ready for his second date with Maddie.
Their first date had gone really well. After talking on the school’s chat site, they had decided to go to the ice skating ring. Of course, he had forgotten the little fact that he couldn’t ice skate to save his life. She had looked wonderful of course, as she always did. And he had gotten to hear her beautiful laugh several times, mostly when he fell on his butt. It had been a wonderful night, and he had been nervous about asking her out again. But with the help of Audrina, he had found the courage, and she had agreed to go to the Movies with him tonight. Of course, her cousin Garret wasn’t happy about it, but Zander figured he would get over it.
When he woke up, he could tell it was going to be a long day of waiting. While he was washing his hair, he was going through the different plan for the night. He had planned on taking her out to dinner first, then to the movies. And if the night was still young after that, he had thought about bringing her over to the apartment to hang out and play Rock band 2. Of course, Adam was ecstatic that Zander had finally admitted his feelings for Madalyn. The Allen family had known Maddie for a while, due to Andrew being friends with her, and everyone adored her, well, except for Andrea, but that was a whole other matter.
Sitting in Psychology, his thoughts definitely weren’t on what his instructor was saying. Audrina finally got him to stop day dreaming and to catch the last part of the lesson. Of course she took the operative to give him crap at lunch, and Zander couldn’t help but let his eyes wonder over to where Madalyn was sitting with Aubree and Austin. He couldn’t remember a time when he had been so nervous about something. He couldn’t wait until his final class, and lucky, his next class was his last. Unfortunately, it was directing, which was one of two classes he had with Maddie.
She sat a few seats in front of him, which meant that he had to stare at the back of her head for an excoriating fifty minutes. Mr. Giles was going on about finding your perfect stage direction and all Zander could think about was how lucky he was for getting to spend the entire night with Madalyn Rae Parker. Finally, Professor Giles told them to get their useless butts out of his theater, and that meant that Zander got to go back to his apartment to get ready. He dashed out of classes, not even stopping to talk to Maddie, in fear of him chickening out.
When he got to his apartment, he jumped in the shower again [he had to make sure he smelled and looked his best] and then threw some gel in his hair and tousled it a little. Finally opening his closet, he looked through his dress shirts, before settling on a nice gray shirt. He put a black vest on over it, and topped it off with his white necktie with the guitars on it. Of course on his way out the door Adam made fun of his, but Zander just rolled his eyes and told him that he would catch him later.
On the way over to Madalyn’s dorm, he stopped by the flower shop to pick up the dozen black roses he had ordered the day before. Of course the lady at the flower shop thought it was for a funeral, and was quite taken aback when he informed her that it was actually for a date. Zander wasn’t sure whether or not Maddie would like them, but it seemed like something she would like. He didn’t want to get the regular Red, white, or pink roses that every guy got a girl at one point or another. He liked to keep things interesting.
Finally making his way to her dorm, he stopped just outside it. Taking a deep breath, he finally knocked on the door. He checked his breath real fast, just to make sure he didn’t have bad breath. He felt a smile come to his face when he saw her at the door. “Wow. Madalyn you look amazing.” he said, taking her hand and kissing it lightly. “Oh, these are for you!” he said, handing her the flowers.

as she sat there waiting, she felt her foot tapping a mile a minute. she just couldn't wait. she was anxious for zander to come so that they could go out. she really wasn't supposed to be one of those impatient girls, but she was now. maybe it was her nerves? she was quite nervous, which wasn't exactly something she usually felt. even with guys, a topic that she was completely stupid with, unlike aubree. sure, it was her second date with zander, not her first, but that didn't make it any better. the first one had been more of the two of them hanging out, but a really nice hanging out. she remembered that night perfectly; they'd gone ice skating, and zander wasn't exactly the best. in fact, he could be one of the worst but she wouldn't say it. instead, she'd say he'd tried his best. but it'd be cute trying to teach him, and him falling and landing on his butt several times. she'd laughed quite a lot, she remembered. afterwards, they'd gone to get a burger, even though she just got a salad from mcDonalds because she was a vegetarian.
but other than that the night had been perfect. and then, days later, the boy made her even happier by calling her up while she was with aubree playing scrabble, and asked her to the movies wednesday night. she smiled as she remembered how excited she'd been. wow, she'd been a crazy girl in the few days from then and now. come to think of it, she still was....but she wasn't saying anything. she absent-mindedly ran her hand through her when she heard the knocking at her door. and as she got up and opened it, she knew she couldn't have been happier seeing zander standing there. he looked absolutely handsome, as usual. she felt heat rushing to her face for some reason, and she looked down so he wouldn't notice, but even she couldn't hold back a smile as she felt his lips against the back of her hand. he was just too adorable. she looked up just as she heard him say 'these are for you', and she smiled when she saw the flowers. “oh, they're gorgeous!”
she honestly didn't think anything of it. sure, they were black roses, like those that you saw at a funeral, but she loved them. she was one of those weird girls. she held them tight, wanting to bring them along with her to the movies; they were just too gorgeous. but she knew she couldn't. she motioned for him to come in with her, and she turned around to find a good place for the roses. she thought, looking around; aubree and her never really had flowers in the room, so they didn't have a vase. she looked around, trying to think what could be a good improvisation of a vase. finally, she saw an over-sized paper cup on the dresser that kept her pencils. tossing them on her bed, she put them in there. turning back to him, she shrugged. “i'll put water in when i get back.” she grinned at him. she was so random at times. but that was how she was, and none of her friends could be surprised about it. she walked back over to him, and took a ( silent ) deep breath. reaching down, she took his hand in hers, pulling him along backwards towards the door. “so, movies?” she grinned at him, biting her lip as the same time. she just couldn't wait.
