Yet another dreary day in New York. The weather was clearing up nicely, but days like this were inescapeable. Fog rolled in and engulfed itself around everything insight. Kennedi was hoping today wouldn't be like this, but she was used to dissapointment. A soft sigh escaped her lips as her eyes opened to the pale light streaming in from between the blinds. Of course, more rain and more clouds. Kena liked this weather, but today she just wanted to stay in. Today that was impossible, she had to go out and about since staying in all the time was driving her crazy.
Kennedi sighed once more as she threw the down-filled comforter off of her bare legs. The cool air made her frown as she swung her legs of the edge of the bed and stood up. Good thing the floor was covered in carpet, because it would also be cold to her. As she raked her brush through her hair, Kena wondered what she would do. There was always shopping, but she had enough clothes crammed into the tiny chest of drawers and closet. No need to make it anymore compact. "Speaking of clothes, I need to get dressed."Kennedi thought as she groggily turned towards the oak dresser near her bed.
The weather wasn't the best, so Kennedi settled for a pair of skinny jeans paired with one of her favorite shirts. Since there weren't any classes today, she had woken up later than usual. Now that she felt more refreshed, she would have energy to do what she needed to get accomplished. Kena was quickly ready to go after straightening her blonde and brunette hair. Her blue-green eyes scanned the room for her purse. Although it was bold print, she always had a hard time finding it. Finally it came in sight. It was laying beside her dresser. As she crossed the room to retrieve it, she slipped into her shoes.
Now with her phone snuggly fit into her back pocket, Kennedi was ready to leave. As she walked out to the parking lot, she noticed the rain was falling softly. Good thing it wasn't pouring. Taking a deep breath, Kena propped her hood up and stepped out into the weather. She raced to her car and slid in, the seats a comfort against the moisture that hit her face. Kena started up her car and pulled out of the parking lot. The drive to Starbucks was only five minutes long, but it was busy this morning. It took her ten minutes to finally get there, but it'd be worth it.
Another race against the rain and Kennedi was inside Starbucks. The aroma of roasting coffee beans was heavenly. Although Kena wasn't a fan of coffee, that didn't mean she didn't enjoy the smell. As she got her place in line behind the other customers, mainly dressed in work-place attire, she pulled out her phone. The plastic slid against her her hands as she checked her texts. Nothing new. With a soft sigh, she slid it back into her pocket and hoisted her purse higher up on her shoulder. She looked around the place, looking for a familiar face.
Kennedi finally got her turn and ordered a chai tea with a poppyseed muffin. This was what she usually ordered. With the cup securely held between her fingers and the muffin in her other hand, she set off to find a table. Although she didn't want this kind of weather spoiling her day, it still calmed her down. As odd as that might have sounded. Kena sat down and set her purse on the table infront of her. As she took a sip of her chai tea, a smile came on her face. Maybe it was going to be a better day than she had originally imagined. As she glanced outside, she watched the cars go by before taking another sip of her tea.
